Peperomia obtusifolia ‘Bicolor’, also known as the Baby Rubber Plant, this compact houseplant is loved for its thick, glossy leaves marbled in shades of creamy white and soft green. Its semi-succulent foliage stores water, giving it a plump, vibrant look year-round. The plant naturally grows in a tidy, upright shape that stays small—perfect for desks, shelves, or mixed planters.

Light : Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate medium light. Avoid harsh direct sun, which may scorch the variegated leaves.
Water : Allow the soil to dry about halfway between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain away—its fleshy leaves hold moisture well, so less is more.
Soil : Use a well-draining mix, such as a blend for succulents or houseplants with added perlite or orchid bark for aeration.
Bloom : May produce slender, pale flower spikes that resemble tiny tails. Though not showy, they’re a sign of a happy, mature plant.
Propagation : Easily propagated from stem or leaf cuttings. Allow cuttings to dry briefly before rooting in water or moist soil.
Fun Fact : Despite its common name, the Baby Rubber Plant isn’t related to the true rubber tree (Ficus elastica). Its thick, waxy leaves evolved to store water, helping it thrive in the humid understory of tropical rainforests.
