Bantel’s Sensation Snake Plant (Dracaena trifasciata ‘Bantel’s Sensation’)
Bantel’s Sensation is a striking cultivar of the classic snake plant, distinguished by its narrow, upright leaves with vertical white pinstripes and a thinner, more architectural form. Native to West Africa, Dracaena trifasciata is a hardy, drought-tolerant species that adapts well to a variety of indoor conditions. 'Bantel’s Sensation' offers a modern, sculptural look ideal for minimalist spaces, and it’s exceptionally low-maintenance.
Fun Fact: Originally discovered by Gustav Bantel in the 1940s, this cultivar was awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit for its ornamental value and resilience.
Light: Tolerates low to bright indirect light. Performs best in bright, filtered light. Avoid prolonged direct sun, which can cause leaf burn.
Water: Water sparingly. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is the most common cause of decline.
Soil: Prefers a gritty, well-draining mix. Use cactus or succulent soil with added perlite or coarse sand to promote aeration.
Propagate: Propagates by leaf cuttings or division of rhizomes. Variegation may not carry over in propagation by leaf cuttings.
Bloom: Rarely flowers indoors. Mature plants may produce fragrant, tubular white flowers under ideal conditions, usually in summer.
