Brandtianum Philodendron
Philodendron brandtianum ‘Quick Silver’ is a striking vining Philodendron admired for its heart-shaped leaves brushed with shimmering silver. The foliage features a deep green base layered with soft, metallic silver mottling that gives the plant a luminous, almost frosted appearance. As it grows, the vines can trail gracefully from a hanging planter or climb a moss pole, making it a beautiful statement plant for shelves or plant walls.
Light : Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its silvery patterning. It can tolerate moderate light, but the contrast in the leaves may become less pronounced. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the foliage.
Water : Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain away. Like many Philodendrons, it prefers evenly moist soil but should never sit in soggy conditions.
Soil : Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix. A blend of potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite works well to provide airflow and prevent compacted roots.
Bloom : Rarely blooms indoors. In its natural habitat, it produces a typical Philodendron spathe and spadix flower structure.
Propagation : Easily propagated from stem cuttings that include a node. Place cuttings in water, sphagnum moss, or directly into moist soil until roots develop.
Fun Fact : Philodendron brandtianum is sometimes called the “Silver Leaf Philodendron” because the metallic markings on its leaves can appear to shimmer or change depending on the light.
