Kalanchoe Flapjack is a striking succulent with large, flat, paddle-shaped leaves that grow in overlapping rosettes. The leaves are typically green with reddish edges that become more pronounced when the plant receives plenty of bright light. With its bold shape and colorful margins, it makes a great statement plant without requiring much fuss.

FUN FACT: Flapjacks get their nickname from their broad, flat leaves, which look a little like a stack of pancakes! The leaves are covered in a natural powdery coating called farina that helps protect the plant from intense sunlight and moisture loss.
LIGHT: Bright light is essential for healthy growth and colorful leaf edges. It can handle several hours of direct morning or afternoon sun, but gradually acclimate the plant to stronger sunlight to prevent scorching.
WATER: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess water drain away. Avoid getting water trapped in the center of the rosette, as this can cause rot.
SOIL: Use a well-draining cactus or succulent soil. A mix amended with perlite, pumice, or coarse sand will provide the drainage this succulent needs.
BLOOM: Mature plants can produce a tall flower stalk covered with clusters of small, pale yellow flowers. After flowering, the main rosette may decline, but offsets can continue growing from the base.
PROPAGATION: Easily propagated from offsets that grow around the base of the plant. Carefully separate an offset once it has developed its own roots and plant it in well-draining succulent soil.
