Hoya Crassipetiolata
Hoya crassipetiolata has oblong pointed leaves that are medium green with dark green veins and leaf edge. They are quick growing and excellent climbers. You will see their new growth quickly wrapping around a trellis or whatever the vine touches! Their foliage grows in pairs along a main stem and can blush red or purple when given some direct sun. Mature plants bloom in summer, producing round mounds of star-shaped flowers. Most hoya blooms have a sweet smell, but the Crassipetiolata is one of the weaker scented flowers.
>>FUN FACT They have an unique flower cluster that produces yellow to peach, waxy, star-shaped flowers, where most hoya blooms are pink or white.
Light: Very bright filtered light or brief amounts of direct morning sun
Water: Saturate once the soil has dried out completely: Approx every 2 weeks
Bloom: Mature plants will bloom in summer from small shoots off the stem called a peduncle
Soil: Well draining, light weight potting mix. Additives could include perlite
Propagate: Take a stem cutting along the main vine right below a node. Place in water making sure the node stays wet. Once roots form, transition to soil and keep slightly moist for a few weeks.
