Ponytail Palm (Beaucarnea recurvata)

Not a true palm, this tree-like plant is actually a succulent! The trunk has a bark-like look and feel ending in a swollen base that holds water. The leaves give this plant a lush look with its hair-like, deep green, curling fronds. Technically, a ponytail palm needs bright, indirect light. Being so forgiving, it will tolerate bright light about half the time. If kept in low light conditions half the year and bright light conditions the other half, it is perfectly happy! (Hint: Placing it outdoors in the summer, it will tolerate any indoor light conditions you keep it in during the winter.) Plant prefers to dry out between waterings due to its succulent nature.
