A rare cultivar of Ficus altissima, the Moonshine “Shivereana” Ficus is a tropical tree that belongs to the Moraceae family and is native to Southeast Asia. Its upright growth habit has thick, leathery leaves that can reach up to 6ft tall with proper care. Mature ficus species often produce aerial roots from the main trunk and root into the base which help anchor the plant and draw in extra moisture and nutrients. The foliage is pale green with irregular cream and orange variegation, giving the leaves a luminous appearance that inspired its common name, “Moonshine” Ficus.
>>FUN FACT The Shivereana belongs to the same genus as the sacred Ficus religiosa (the Bodhi tree), under which the Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment.
